Website: 3D PRINTING THE X-RAY UNIVERSE

1. Helix Nebula
This printable file was created by the Chandra team from the 3D model by Sal Orlando (INAF). The outer layers of the Sun-like star have been puffed off, and the stellar material is shown looking like a fried egg in the 3D print.

2. Vela Pulsar
This 3D model serves as a scientifically informed approximation for visualizing the Vela Pulsar. The Vela Pulsar is the aftermath of a star that collapsed.

3. Eta Carinae
This three-dimensional (3D) printable model of Eta Carinae's Homunculus Nebula is based on data from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope.

4. IC 443
This 3D model shows this stunning supernova remnant IC 443 in a new way. In the model, the shock wave (similar to a sonic boom produced by a jet) and the remains of the star have collided with a nearby gas cloud, and are interacting with it as they pass through it.

5. U Scorpii
This 3D model of such a nova outburst of an object called U Scorpii is based on a scientific simulation, informed by observations.

6. SN 1006
This 3D model of SN 1006 was created by constraining mathematical models of the object with X-ray observational data from Chandra to help explore how the clumping of material after the explosion and the acceleration of high-energy particles affects the structure of the remnant.

7. DG Tau
This three-dimensional (3D) visualization is based on data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. Select the 3D printer of your choice to make your own DG Tau system.

8. Crab Nebula
The three-dimensional model serves as scientifically informed approximation for visualizing the nebula in X-ray light.

9. Tycho's Supernova Remnant
This model consists of two similar halves, with two parts to each half (the ejecta, and the outer shockwave). Select the 3D printer of your choice to make your own Tycho.

12. Supernova 1987A
A supernova in the Large Magellanic Cloud about 160,000 light years from Earth. These 3D prints show SN 1987A at its current observed age of 30 years, based on 3D simulations by Salvatore Orlando. (Credit: Salvatore Orlando (INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Palermo) & NASA/CXC/SAO/A.Jubett et al.)
