During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was completed on Jun 10 to reinitialize the flight software Thruster Command Processing subfunction to clear a benign overflow condition. A real-time procedure was completed on Jun 13 to backout the two most recent flight software patches, the SCS107/84 and RadMon patches. This follows the identification of an incorrect memory value used in the RadMon patch discovered during a code comparison conducted as part of the present re-compile activity. A number of process improvements have been identified and approved as a result of the problem, and a corrected patch has been generated, tested and approved for uplink. Of note last week was the release of CXCDS 7.6 in support of the Cycle 7 Peer Review that will be held in Boston next week. A Chandra press release was made on Jun 6 describing the discovery of a shell of superheated gas around a dying star in the Milky Way galaxy. A stunning image release was issued on Jun 13 of the supernova remnant Cas-A that combines Chandra, Hubble and Spitzer data. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/05_releases/press_060605.html http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2005/casa The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of 1H1426+428 coordinated with XMM-Newton, and a series of observations of M81 coordinated with ground observations. |
