Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 12 June 2015 9.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was replanned twice, first to incorporate an observation of GRS1915+105, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Jun 4, and then to incorporate an observation of H1743-322, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Jun 8. Scheduled observations of NGC5044 and Kes73 were impacted by the replans and will be rescheduled in future weeks.

A Chandra image release was issued on Jun 10 describing observations of NGC 5813 that show evidence for serial black hole eruptions. NGC 5813 is a group of galaxies that is immersed in a reservoir of X-ray emitting hot gas. Cavities that are seen in the hot gas give information about prior active phases of the central supermassive black hole. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2015/ngc5813/

The schedule of targets for the next two weeks is shown below and includes an observation of M82, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Jun 5, and observations of GJ436 coordinated with HST:
