Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 9 May 2014 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was used to monitor the momentum unload that was executed from the on-board command loads on May 5; the unload performance was nominal. A real-time procedure was executed on May 7 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer.

A Chandra press release was issued on May 7 as a NASA press release describing new insights into the formation of star clusters. A new study of the Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) and the Orion Nebula Cluster show stars on the outskirts of these clusters are older than those in the middle. This differs from predictions of the simplest ideas for how stars like our Sun should form in these clusters. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/14_releases/press_050714.html
