Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 11 January 2013 9.00am EST

During the last two weeks Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Jan 8 to uplink a flight software patch that makes the temperature of the Integral Propulsion System fuel tank and tank heater status available to the on-board computer. These data are for planned use in future flight software patches for management of the tank temperature. Additional real-time procedures were executed on Jan 8 to dump OBC-A memory as a follow-up to the flight software patch. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory image maintained on the ground.

A Chandra press release was issued on Jan 7 as a NASA press release describing Chandra observations of the Vela pulsar jet. A new Chandra movie of the Vela pulsar (created from eight images from observations between June and September 2010) shows it may be "precessing," or wobbling as it spins. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/13_releases/press_010713.html

Of note this week was the release on Jan 8 of CALDB 4.5.5.1. This update is a minor patch upgrade that corrects header keyword omissions in the new ACIS time-dependent QEU files originally released in CALDB 4.5.5.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of 2MASS J19094043+4930050 coordinated with Kepler.
