During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to include
observations of GRB041006 and SGR 1806-20 that were approved on Oct 7
as 1 day and 3 day fast turn-around Targets Of Opportunity (TOO)
respectively. Loads were replanned and uplinked on Oct 7. Part of an
observation of Abell 426 was impacted by the TOOs and were rescheduled
in next week's load.
A Chandra press release was issued on Oct 6 presenting a stunning image of the Kepler supernova remnant that combined data from the Chandra, Hubble and Spitzer observatories. The image highlights a fast-moving shell of iron-rich material from the exploded star, surrounded by an expanding shock wave that is sweeping up interstellar gas and dust. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2004/kepler/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes a series of observations of the core of the bright galaxy cluster Abell 426 (Perseus). |
