During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was executed on Aug 7 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra image release was issued on Aug 5 of M87, the largest galaxy in the Virgo cluster of galaxies. The composite image of visible (or optical), radio, and X-ray data shows that bright jets, moving at close to the speed of light, are seen at all wavelengths coming from the massive black hole at the center of the galaxy. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2008/m87/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below. |
