Friday 4 July 2008 7.30am EDT
During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
Chandra passed through the seventh, eighth, and nineth eclipses of the 2008 Summer season on June 28, July 1 and 3. Following the final full eclipse of the season on Jul 3, a real-time procedure was completed to disable SCS 29. A real-time procedure was executed on Jul 1 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra image release was issued on Jul 1 of the supernova remnant, SN 1006. The composite image shows new evidence for the acceleration of charged particles to high energies in supernova shockwaves. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of A1744-361 coordinated with RXTE. |
