Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 2 November 2001 5.30pm EDT

During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was completed nominally on 31 Oct to recover from a latchup of the ACIS threshold crossing plane. The latchup resulted in the same pixel data being reported repeatedly for chips S2 and I3 and an assessment is underway to determine the cause of the event. The observation of HD 93497 was impacted by the event and will be rescheduled in a future load. Normal observations were resumed following the completion of the procedure.

Of note last week was the conduct of a communications test from the OCC to Chandra with the Deep Space Network 26-m automation system. The test was part of the planned DSN development work.

The schedule of observations for the coming week is shown below and includes a coordinated observation of NGC 3516 with XMM-Newton.
