Friday 30 January 2004 8.30am EST
During the last two weeks Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
Chandra passed though eclipses on Jan 23, 26 and 28 with nominal power and thermal performance. The two remaining eclipses of the 2004 winter season will occur on Jan 31 and 3 February. A real-time procedure was completed on Jan 25 to uplink a patch to the stored command sequence (SCS) in the on-board computer used to safe the HRC in the event of high radiation or other safing actions. The patch removes the HRC mechanism commanding from the safing actions in response to the failure of the -Y shutter motor select relay. A test of the SCS function was performed immediately following the uplink of the patch and completed successfully. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GX 339-4 coordinated with ATCA and an observation of M81 coordinated with HST. |
