Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 3 November 2000 2.30pm EST

During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

The Observatory passed through the lunar eclipse of Oct 27 with fully nominal performance. The eclipse was the first to be handled using solar array off-pointing to avoid a possible power bus over-voltage condition following eclipse exit. The daily load off-pointed the arrays to 75 degrees at 10.10pm EST, the eclipse began at 11.10pm with 42 minute duration, and the arrays were repointed at 11:58pm.

An upgrade to the ground system software and operating system was performed on Nov 2. Both the On Line System and Off Line systems were upgraded and the new version of ONLS was operational for a pass at 1pm EST on Nov 2 as planned. Configuration of the OFLS is proceeding today.

The planned observations for the coming week are as follows.
