Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 25 August 2000 2.00pm EDT

During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A software patch to SCS 82 was uplinked on Aug 20 during a real-time contact. The patch will ensure that the correct action is taken in the (unlikely) event of a safing action during a grating motion.

During the next week the Observatory will pass through the 1st and 2nd Earth eclipses of the 2000 Fall season. The 1st eclipse at 11.04pm EDT on Aug 30 will be 55.5 minutes in duration and the 2nd at 2.26pm EDT on Sept 2 will last for 76.0 minutes. Both eclipses are classed as medium duration and will be handled by the electrical power system in the same way as for the medium eclipses during previous seasons.

The planned observations for the coming week are as follows.
