During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was completed on 13 Mar to update the on-board Ephemeris. A Chandra image release was issued on 12 Mar of the Supernova Remnant N132D in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The Chandra data show an oxygen-rich shell whose origin may help constrain the progenitor mass and provide insight into how massive stars explode and enrich the surrounding interstellar medium. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2008/n132d/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of IC348 coordinated with the VLA. |
