During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A procedure was conducted during a perigee passage on Nov 19 to command off the ACIS side-B detector housing heater. The test was one in a series being used to determine the cooling thermal time constant of the housing at different pitch angles. The test results will be used to determine if observations can be conducted with the housing temperature turned off in order to mitigate an overall thermal warming trend. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of M31 coordinated with XMM-Newton and a series of observations of two pointings in the DEEP2 survey field. |
