| During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
Chandra passed through the 1st and 2nd eclipses of the 2007 Summer season on Jun 24 and 26 with nominal power and thermal performance. Realtime procedures were conducted on Jun 23 and Jun 24 to set the on-board eclipse flag to short (true) for the first eclipse and back to false in preparation for the next 6 medium duration eclipses of the season. A Chandra press release was issued on Jun 27 describing observations of the binary system neutron star Circinus X-1 that have revealed an X-ray jet blasting away from the object. The discovery is expected to help understand how neutron stars as well as black holes can generate powerful beams of relativistic particles.
