Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 1 June 2007 9.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to include a 58 Ks observation of M82 ULX. The source was accepted as a fast turn-around Target Of Opportunity (TOO) on 27 May and loads were replanned for uplink on Jun 1. The observation was accommodated by deleting observations of 1RXS J092418.0-314, ESO 137-006 and AX J183607-0756 and inserting an observation of SDSS J1411+4812 as part of the replan.

A Chandra press release was issued on May 30 in conjunction with the AAS meeting describing observations of the massive galaxy cluster 3C438. The Chandra data show a bright arc of extremely hot gas extending over two million light years whose origin requires one of the most energetic events ever detected. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/07_releases/press_053007.html
