During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
Chandra completed the last two eclipses of the 2004 Winter season on Jan 31 and Feb 3 with nominal power and thermal performance. Real-time procedures were performed following each eclipse to disable the momentum unloading sub-function. A real-time procedure was also completed on Feb 3 following the completion of the season to set the short eclipse flag to false. A Chandra image release was issued on Jan 30 describing a white dwarf star in the V471 Tauri system that closely orbits a normal Sun-like star. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2004/v471/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of NGC 5408 ULX coordinated with the VLA and of the Stanek Window coordinated with HST. |
