Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 22 November 2019 9.00am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Real-time procedures were executed Nov 16 and Nov 18 to perform full-frame dark current readouts of the Aspect Camera Assembly CCD.

A Chandra press release was issued on Nov 18 describing Chandra, Hubble, and VLA observations of the Phoenix galaxy cluster. Empirical evidence has indicated that central galaxies of such clusters have suppressed star formation due to energy from the central black hole which, through jets of high-energy particles, makes the gas in the galaxy too warm to form many stars. In this unique cluster, the jets from the central black hole instead appear to be aiding in the formation of stars. ------------------------------------------
The schedule of targets for the next week is still in work due to an
observation of SGR 1935+2154, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity
on Nov 21.

All spacecraft subsystems continued to support nominal operations.
