Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 8 June 2018 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Jun 6 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer.

Version 1.3.3 of CSCview has been released, greatly improving search query performance and fixing a problem when re-running a previously-saved query.

A Chandra press release was issued on June 6 describing a long-term monitoring study of the nearby Alpha Centauri system. Using Chandra X-ray Observatory observations taken every 6 months since 2005, astronomers have determined that any planets orbiting the two brightest stars in the Alpha Cen system are likely not being pummeled by large amounts of X-ray radiation from their host stars. This is encouraging news for the possibility of life on planets around our nearest stellar companions. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/18_releases/press_060618.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of SDSS J110731.23+1347, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on May 9 and is coordinated with MMT.
