Welcome: What Do You Detect in the Data?

You will get to take a close look at each of the 16 objects presented in the activity. Try to decide if the image shows star(s) or a galaxy/galaxies. Look at brightness, cloudiness, shape (roundness, spikes, spirals), and other visible traits in each image. Astronomers can use visual inspection to help figure out what might be out there. You can record your thoughts and observations in the text box for each answer.

Tip: Some images might contain both galaxies and stars, but the object is to identify the primary case.

This activity collects anonymous interaction data (your choices and time spent) to help improve astronomy education and research. No personal information is collected.
