Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 4 May 2018 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on May 2 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer.

A Chandra image release was issued on May 2 describing observations of the stellar cluster NGC 6231. Studying such a cluster can help provide an accurate census of the stars that reside there. Chandra data were used to identify Sun-like stars in the cluster which were previously missed, in particular distinguishing cluster stars from foreground interlopers. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2018/ngc6231/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GX13+1 coordinated with VLA, and an observation of sGRB180418A, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Apr 30.
